Classical Enrichment Academy
Program and Curriculum Overview
Mission Statement: To provide a Christ-centered learning environment with an emphasis on
academic and liberal arts studies. Our mission is to partner with the homeschool community
in Northwest Austin and serve as a support system to the pursuit of classical education.
The Classical Enrichment Academy is for students in K-6th grade. It is a one-day
program designed to enhance your existing homeschool curriculum. The school currently
meets on Thursdays from 9:00-2:30 at Live oak Church located at 3315 El
Salido Parkway in Northwest Austin. Our staff consists of Christian teachers
who are experienced and highly motivated to show your children God's love through learning.
Students at Classical Enrichment Academy will have the opportunity to participate in a
variety of liberal arts and academic studies. Below is a brief synopsis of our offered
classes. More in-depth details will be provided at the Open House.
- Reader's Theater/ Speech
Younger students will interact with classic literature and have the opportunity to
express the story through voice and movement. Older students will explore the
world of speech. They will learn tools to speak in a concise and articulate manner.
- Music
Students will explore music appreciation though many hands-on activities.
They will have the opportunity to be exposed to the multi-faceted
components of music.
- P.E.
Classes will consist of general exercise, the rules and techniques of team sports,
as well as the chance to participate in various sports and activities.
- Geography through Art
At each grade level geography will be introduced beginning with God creating
the Universe. Each class will learn about the different types of maps and corresponding vocabulary.
In addition, each grade level will study many topics related to geography including, landforms,
ecosystems, continents, oceans, and states and capitals. Many hands-on activities
will be provided to enhance understanding of concepts.
- Literature Studies
Younger students will experience a variety of classic literature through book
studies, hands-on projects, and dramatic presentations. Older classes will read
and explore the dynamics of a variety of genres. They will use higher level
thinking skills to compare and contrast the components of literature through
written and oral presentations.
